We contribute to education and skills development through new, diversified strategic interventions including private sector partnerships, civil society strengthening, non-governmental organisation support and designing policy interventions.

Skill Development through Technology and Education

India’s fast-paced technology-driven economy demands the future workforce to be skilled in emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence. With AI being introduced as a skill subject by CBSE, it shows the need to upskill the students at a young age and encourage them to use the technology. The sessions covered basic concepts of AI including domain-specific knowledge of Statistical Data, Computer Vision, and Natural Language Processing. Students were motivated and engaged in fun quizzes related to the topic through the Kahoot quiz platform.

The team collaborated with various schools in Gujarat to conduct regular tech training for high school students. Designed and developed the teaching agenda/curriculum, worksheets and coding notebooks for hands-on programming practice. Conducted quizzes to test knowledge post each module. Personalized training to students for technical topics such as python, java, web development, etc. Provided development support for the social impact project to the students. This event made students aware of the emerging technologies and how to leverage the technology to solve real-world problems.

Shiksha Sahay

Our program Shiksha Sahay aims to provide educational scholarship funds to students from lower socioeconomic backgrounds. This Education fund will support students from disadvantaged communities with Rs. 10,000 as an annual scholarship. We provided a scholarship to a student Kavya Chatralai from class 10 to support her education.

AI Global Impact Festival

To celebrate and enrich lives with AI Innovation; the first annual AI Global Impact Festival is being organized by Intel from Oct 15-30, 2021. This Global Festival is aimed to give innovators a chance to share ideas, network with peers in a fun manner, learn more about AI and showcase their AI skills in creating social impact. Jayso Foundation supported expanding the festival's reach by promoting it on many platforms and through various channels. Conducted outreach efforts such as reaching out to universities and schools for registration. Assisted the participants in the program during the enrollment process. Mentored the participants for their projects and ideas to get a chance to be showcased on the global platform. Kaushal Patil, who received the award in the category of AI Impact Creator, was also trained by the team.

AI Voice Box

AI is part of a much broader tool kit of measures that can be used to tackle societal issues. One such tool kit is the AI-Voice box. The tool kit will help to create some innovative social impact solutions. We curated an intellectual tool kit i.e AI Voice Box. It is a do-it-yourself kit that provides hands-on experience with AI. We did the entire R&D of the kit. The team focused on both theoretical as well as the practical implementation of knowledge. We also did the material procurement and designing of the product. The aim of the activity was to encourage and train students for creating meaningful social impact solutions using the AI-Voice box.

The box has a natural language processor and connects it to the Cloud Speech-to-Text service, allowing you to ask questions and issue voice commands to your programs. All of it fits in a handy little acrylic box, powered by a Raspberry Pi. The voice box has multiple sensors and ports which were designed strategically by our team. It also has a distance sensor which helps in following the voice commands depending on the distance. The box has all the latest electronic pieces of equipment and sensors.

National level AI skill development programs

Governments and many companies around the world are acknowledging the essential need to increase AI knowledge among next-generation innovators through suitable AI readiness programmes. In the endeavour to build an AI-ready generation and to address current and future AI skill gaps in an inclusive way, we along with corporate partners and relevant government stakeholders launch rigorous programs and interventions.

The goal is to demystify AI, democratize tools and access to resources and empower a larger non-technical audience with AI social skills and tech skills for real-world applications. We support the end to end execution of the program. We planned and organised internal team meetings to brainstorm and build strategies for program implementation. Engaged a team of trainers and mentors for the program. Support in the onboarding of content creators and design agencies for curating program collaterals. We engaged a team of designers and technical experts for the development of user registration and login APIs, Project website homepage. Supported in the orientation of nodal officers with the basics of AI, its scope, program journey and their roles and responsibilities.

AI FOR ALL: Outreach

Governments worldwide are working on creating comprehensive National AI strategies to create a sustainable, inclusive and positive impact on their citizens, industries and overall societies. A skilled and competent workforce is the foundation for the growth of any nation and industry in the AI world. An AI-driven economy requires a new approach to a nation’s education system including ways to empower larger non-technical audiences with AI social and technical skills for real-world applications. With the objective of providing children in government schools an opportunity to get along with a digital-first mindset, skillset, and toolset we conducted AI For All session with 300 schools in the rural regions of Ahmedabad.

More than 9000+ students attended the online sessions and got acquainted with the basics of AI. The DEO of rural Ahmedabad provided us with the support to conduct the session and ensure participation from the teachers, students and heads. The students were very enthusiastic about these sessions. The students upon completion of both stages of the program know more about AI and became confident enough to converse about this technology which is being considered the power that may drive the future. The students can make a self-learning plan for their AI exploration journey. They can choose the domain they are interested in and begin their self-paced AI learning journey which will take them step by step through their topic of interest.
