Advances in digital technology have the potential to significantly boost productivity and economic growth while also creating new and better employment opportunities. In the AI-fueled world, a knowledgeable and competent workforce is the foundation for the development of any nation and enterprise. A nation’s education system should be redesigned to equip wider non-technical audiences with AI social and technical abilities for real-world applications in an AI-driven economy.

In accordance with the greater goal of enabling and empowering the next generation with AI skills, CBSE, Ministry of Education, Government of India in collaboration with Intel has developed ‘AI For All,’ a self-learning online learning platform that intends to raise public awareness about Artificial Intelligence. It aims to demystify AI for people from all walks of life, in short, anyone interested in learning about it and establishing a ‘Digital First Mindset.’

As a part of the nationwide initiative, an ‘AI For All’ session was conducted on 17th Oct, at Karnavati University, Gandhinagar, for the students of Product design. Karnavati University (KU) is an InTECHgrated university in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, India, offering undergraduate and graduate degrees for domestic and international students.

During the session, students were introduced to the fundamentals of AI and were given examples to distinguish between AI and non-AI machines. Different domains of AI and their impact on various sectors were discussed. Furthermore, emphasis was laid on AI principles and AI ethics. The overall session was designed and conducted in an interactive manner to encourage student participation while also keeping it informative. Fun quizzes and games were employed to accomplish this. The students found the session to be insightful and useful. They acknowledged that the session provided a completely new perspective of the use-cases of AI, its employability in their respective fields, and how it could assist them to resolve and handle complex problems. Students also mentioned how the ‘AI For All’ program will be vital for the citizens of our country to get ahead in the race by becoming a digitally advanced nation.

New and emerging technologies such as Al are rapidly transforming nearly every industry, requiring the workforce to quickly adapt and equip themselves with future-ready skills. A key barrier in the wide adoption of these technologies so far is the inadequate degree of sensitization and knowledge of the technologies, their potential, and context among the mass non-technical population. Simultaneously, ‘AI For All’ was launched to take on the challenge and harness the potential of Al technology by making it accessible to the general public. Moreover, orientation sessions like these would be incredibly valuable in developing a digitally proficient workforce in an AI-world.

We encourage our readers to be a part of this change by participating in this program online at https://ai-for-all.in/#/home We also welcome schools, universities, institutions, and organizations to collaborate with us to host a ‘AI For All’ session at their premises.
